Online Dictionaries for Learners

The article mentioned some ideas that sound interesting, but I think and I agree that reading comprehension and vocabulary have relationship; for example, a students can read a book and they can uderstand it, but some words can be weird or new for them. For that reason, I think that students acquire vocabulary through the readers. In addition, including the technology students find some books online in which they can discover new vocabulary to learn. 

Moreover, I liked the first teaching principles because as a future teachers showed us that we can fin many tools online to teach vocabulary and reading too; for that reason, the article showed the computerized reading and the non-computerized reading. 

On the other hand, the article about Online dictionaries talked about two different dicitionaries that are general-use and English-Learner dictionary. Most of the time I think that we as a students find the words in dictionaries as the article mentioned, but because we did not know about tha information. For me it is interesting to know that we can find a lot of websites in which we can see dictionaries online, and I think that it is useful because in some cases the dictionaries printed do not have all the information that we want. 

The English-Learner dictionaries have some particular features. For example, corpus-based compilation of words, word frequency data, collocation guides, authentic examples of how words are used, and topical vocabulary. Also, this kind of dictionaries have a copy in CD-ROOM, aplication for smartphones, and some others. I think to conclude that online dictionaries are an useful tool for students and teachers, but the problem is the same that I share always the lack of money in that country to access computers and internet, and also, even CD-Player to reproduce CD´s.

    I really enjoyed reading your log Vane! I consider that these online dictionaries are effective for ESL/ EFL learners because they provide good examples that students can apply in real life. Also, these kinds of dictionaries have some features that the normal dictionaries may not have, for that reason is easier for them understand because dictionaries provide synonyms, which is helpful and meaningful for learners.

Online Collaborative Writing Using Wikis. All the things that I was reading about the topic were interesting. First, because the students have the opportunity to work in wikis. Wikis are a tools that we can edit, create and share information through it. Also, I think that the students can find many things in that wikis to do the homework, and the article present an example of it. Teachers and studetns can participe. In addition, one of the advantages to work in groups in the classroom is the studetns can share their ideas, opinions, and expiences. The students can create a project, choose a topic, and they can start to work in it. The students have the chance to participe sharing the information they found, they have the possibility to communicate after class, and in that way they build the project day per day.       COMPUTERS AND LANGUAGE LEARNING. Mark Warchauer and Deborah Healy   mentioned that many years ago the computers were a weird object in education. Some teachers nowadays use a computer because is an important instrument in all the classroom. It is interested because the article is divides in four parts.  On the other hand, the history showed some approaches in which the technology was grown, but in different ways; for example, I think that the communicative CALL is better because is a cognitive theory, and I consider that behaviorist give less opportunities than communicative CALL because the students are involve and they can work with the computers.
