Online Collaborative Writing Using Wikis.
All the things that I was reading about the topic were interesting. First, because the students have the opportunity to work in wikis. Wikis are a tools that we can edit, create and share information through it. Also, I think that the students can find many things in that wikis to do the homework, and the article present an example of it. Teachers and studetns can participe.
In addition, one of the advantages to work in groups in the classroom is the studetns can share their ideas, opinions, and expiences. The students can create a project, choose a topic, and they can start to work in it. The students have the chance to participe sharing the information they found, they have the possibility to communicate after class, and in that way they build the project day per day. Besides, I think that the teacher have an important role in these cases. Teachers have to do the correct intructions to students develop the project in good way; also, teachers can create an environment in which students have access to computers, internet, books online to the references.
On the other hand, the disadvantages create a limitation in the students because some students do not have access to internet if they want to work in their home, some of them do not have computers to work in wiki. For that reason the teachers have to make an enviroment in class with different tool because writing in wiki is way in which the students check their grammatical mistakes, they improve writing a lot. I consider wiki helps students to communicat, sharing opinions, and many other things. I really like the article because our teacher gave us a similar project, and that work make students more responsible, they participe more, and the environment in class is better.

ResponderEliminarI agree with you when you say that students can create projects, share their ideas and opinions through technology, since today many students work and study at the same time and it is difficult to do the tasks in college. If we talk about schools and institutes it is similar because the students can not spend much time outside their homes and their parents prefer that they do the tasks from their homes. However, the teachers are facilitating the way to carry out projects and works leaving them online so that everyone can perform them quietly without leaving their homes.
Hello Vanesa. I just want to mention that collaborative projects such as writing a paragraph, as the one we have been assigned, can help students to get in contact easily with their classmate. By sharing their ideas, opinions, and experiences through internet, students can avoid any problems, for example: not attending to a meeting to for the project or traveling long distances to get together to do it. Also, getting students to work in groups to express their ideas foster them to organize the ideas in a proficient way. Also, students obtain feedback from their classmate which is encouraged because they do not feel the pressure of being monitored by teachers. This also allows students to accept and deal with positive or negative criticisms. And finally, teachers´ roll is fundamental to facilitate the instructions and directions to accomplish any assignment.
